R&G Plumbing Gas & Drainage

Sydney's Trusted Drain Repair Experts

Drain Repairs Sydney

A drain that keeps blocking is not a drain that needs clearing again. It is a drain that needs repairing. Somewhere in the line there is a crack, a root intrusion, a collapsed section or a joint that has pulled apart, and every time you clear it, the blockage comes straight back because the damage is still there.

At R&G Plumbing, Gas & Drainage, we provide drain repairs across Sydney, sewer lines, stormwater pipes and internal drainage. We inspect every line with a CCTV camera before we quote, so you know exactly what has failed and where; then we repair it properly with pipe relining, section replacement or a targeted fix rather than jetting the same drain on a loop.

DRAIN REPAIR SERVICES SYDNEY

Drain Repair Services We Offer Across Sydney

From a cracked kitchen drain to a collapsed sewer main under the front yard, we handle every type of drainage pipe repair in Sydney.

CCTV Drain Inspection and Diagnosis

Every drain repair starts here. A high-definition camera goes down the line to show the exact cause, location and depth of the damage. You see the footage, you understand what needs fixing, and you get a fixed price based on what the camera actually found rather than a guess from the surface.

For cracked, root-damaged or separated pipes that are still structurally intact, we reline the pipe from the inside using an epoxy liner that bonds to the existing wall. No excavation, no torn-up lawn, paving or driveway, and the repair typically lasts decades. This is the drain repair method that suits most damaged underground pipes in Sydney.

Sewer lines carry wastewater from your home to the mains, and a failure shows as sewage backing up, foul smells or contaminated soil. We locate and repair sewer drain damage with CCTV and relining wherever possible, and we understand the boundary between your responsibility and Sydney Water's.

When a pipe has collapsed completely, sagged beyond recovery or is made from a material that cannot be relined, we excavate and replace the damaged section with new pipework. We dig only where we need to and restore the surface afterwards.

High-pressure jetting to clear blockages and cut through roots, restoring full flow. Clearing is the right job when the pipe itself is undamaged. When it is not, and the camera shows a structural fault, clearing alone will not hold, and we will tell you.

Stormwater lines carry leaves, silt and root intrusion, and the damage often only shows during heavy rain. We repair cracked and blocked stormwater pipes, pits and channel drains across Sydney.

Trusted. Local. Reliable.

Why Sydney Homeowners Choose R&G for Drain Repairs

CCTV Before We Quote, Every Time

You see the footage. You understand the cause. You get a fixed price for the actual repair, not a guess. No one digs up your yard or quotes you for relining without confirming what the camera shows.

Drain Clearing and Drain Repair Under One Roof

We clear blocked drains and we repair damaged ones. That means we will tell you honestly whether the pipe needs fixing or just clearing, because we do both, and we have no reason to push you toward the bigger job.

Relining, Replacement and Clearing, All In-House

We do not sub out the relining to someone else. Our team handles CCTV, jetting, relining and excavation, so there is one point of contact, one quote and one guarantee.

$0 Call-Out Fee and a Fixed Price

No charge to come out, inspect the line and quote. And the price you agree to is the price you pay. Nothing gets added afterwards.

Warning Signs

Signs You Need Drain Repairs, Not Just Drain Clearing

A single blockage might just need clearing. When the same drain keeps failing, or when you notice any of these, the pipe itself is the problem.

If you've noticed any of these warning signs, your underground drain may have a recurring blockage, collapsed pipe or tree root intrusion. A professional CCTV drain inspection can identify the cause before it leads to costly repairs.

LOCAL DRAIN REPAIR PLUMBERS

Drain Repair Near Me: Your Local Sydney Drain Specialists

Sydney's drainage problems are not random. They follow the soil, the trees and the age of the plumbing, and once you know what to expect, the pattern is remarkably consistent.

On the upper North Shore, through Gordon, Killara, Pymble, Turramurra and Wahroonga, the dominant issue is mature tree roots entering old earthenware and clay pipes. These suburbs have some of the largest established trees in Sydney and some of the oldest underground drainage, and the two do not coexist well. Root intrusion is the single most common drain repair we carry out there.

Through the lower North Shore and into Chatswood, Artarmon, Willoughby and Lane Cove, we see more of the ageing infrastructure faults: cracked concrete-encased pipes, displaced joints from ground movement, and sewer lines that have sagged into a backfall that traps debris permanently.

In the Inner West and through Ryde, Eastwood, Epping and Strathfield, a mix of everything: older clay mains, root damage, ground movement in reactive soils, and stormwater systems that were undersized decades ago and cannot cope with the intensity of modern storms.

HOW WE REPAIR DRAINS

Drain Repair Methods: Relining, Replacement and Trenchless Options

An epoxy-saturated liner is inserted into the damaged pipe, inflated against the wall and cured in place. It creates a new pipe inside the old one, sealing cracks, closing root entry points and restoring full structural integrity. No digging. Suits most cracked, root-damaged or separated pipes that have not fully collapsed.

Drain Section Replacement

When a section of pipe has collapsed completely or the material cannot be relined, we excavate and replace that section with new PVC pipework. We keep the dig to the minimum needed, then backfill and restore the surface.

For end-of-life drainage systems where multiple sections have failed, ongoing patch repairs become more expensive than replacing the line properly. We plan and install a new drain run with correct falls, modern materials and clean junctions.

Targeted Repairs and Patch Fixes

For a single joint failure, a localised crack or a fitting issue, a targeted repair can solve the problem without relining or replacing the full length. The camera confirms whether a patch will hold or whether the damage extends further than the visible spot.

Drain Clearing vs Drain Repairs: Which Do You Actually Need?

This is the question that decides whether you spend a few hundred dollars or a few thousand, and getting it right saves you from paying twice.

When Drain Clearing Is Enough

If the pipe itself is intact and the blockage is caused by grease buildup, hair and soap, flushed objects, or a one-off accumulation of debris, clearing it with a jetter restores full flow, and the job is done. No structural damage, no repair needed.

If the pipe is cracked, collapsed, has root intrusion through the wall, is sagging into a backfall, or has joints that have separated, clearing will only restore flow temporarily. The damage remains, the blockage comes back, and you end up clearing the same drain repeatedly at a growing cumulative cost. The right move is to repair the pipe once.

A CCTV inspection shows the condition of the pipe wall, not just whether there is a blockage. That is why we inspect before we quote: it protects you from paying for a repair you do not need, and from paying for repeated clearing when you do.

HOW IT WORKS

From Damaged Drain to Permanent Fix in Four Steps

Same problem, three very different fixes. The camera decides which one you need.

Inspect With CCTV

We put a camera down the line and show you exactly what is causing the problem: cracks, roots, a collapse, a displaced joint or just a build-up that needs clearing. No call-out fee for this.

1
Fixed Price Before We Start

Based on what the camera shows, you get a clear, fixed price for the repair. If clearing is all that is needed, we will say so and price that instead.

2
Repair the Drain

We repair, whether that is relining, section replacement, excavation or a targeted fix, and we do it in-house rather than handing it off.

3
Test, Verify and Guarantee

We run the camera again to confirm the repair, test the flow, tidy up and back the workmanship with a guarantee.

Excellent service from R&G Plumbing at my unit. Jeremy was very quick to contact me and arrange an inspection. Once here, Adam was professional, punctual, and quickly identified the issue with my kitchen taps. He clearly explained the problem, completed the repair efficiently, and provided all the documentation I needed afterwards.

I really appreciated the honest advice, attention to detail, and fair pricing. I highly recommend R&G Plumbing to anyone looking for reliable, fairly priced, and professional plumbing services.

Thank you again to the entire R&G Plumbing team!

Jack from R&G Plumbing Gas & Drainage Pty Ltd was outstanding from start to finish. His workmanship was excellent, and he was professional, friendly, and incredibly patient throughout the entire job. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was done properly and took the time to explain things clearly, which I really appreciated. The quality of his work speaks for itself, and the pricing was very fair — great value for money. I couldn’t be happier with the result and would highly recommend Jack to anyone needing a reliable and skilled plumber. Thank you Jack

We had a blocked drain in our backyard and R&G Plumbing reached out very quickly. Jeremy gave us a fair quote for jet blasting, so we went ahead. Zac came out and was fantastic. When the jet blasting didn’t work, he found the pipe was completely blocked by long roots and a hole in the pipe

Initially, it looked like the floor would need to be dug up for a 1.5 day job$$, which we couldn’t afford. Instead, Jack kept investigating and found another access point through our neighbour’s carpark ceiling. He organised access to neighbours garage, removed the roots, and repaired the pipe at a much more affordable price. The roots were way worse than we expected.

As a young couple and first home buyers, this was our first time dealing with a plumber and we were pretty stressed since we thought it was a simple blockage but it turned out to be a complex issue. I gotta check the drainage when im purchase property in the future. Learnt my lesson!

Jeremy and Zac explained everything clearly and provided a detailed report and invoice so we can raise it with strata, as the drainage is linked to other units and may have further issues.

Really grateful for the honesty and effort. We’ve definitely found a plumber we trust and would happily connect with Jeremy’s team again.

Very happy with the work and the service. Jack came to give me a quote on replacing 4 taps in the laundry and the Abs came to do the work 2 hours later. Everything fixed quickly on the same day. Both young men were very professional and pleasant. I would recommend them.

My sewer was blocked, and as my normal plumber was unavailable for a week I contacted R&G Plumbing. They promptly attended after my call, and temporarily fixed the problem, but indicated the pipe had to be replaced. After being a bit taken aback by the quote, I accepted due to the urgency of the matter. Abs and his apprentice River (2 days on the job) attended on time a couple of days later to complete the job. Both very pleasant to speak to. It was an all day job to dig the hole through heavy clay, replace the pipe, back fill, and replace a row of pavers. I think they did a pretty good job with the clean up as well. Overall, happy with the reliability and outcome, though I thought a tad expensive. I did ask a general question of replacing 2 washers, and was quoted 3 times more than I actually paid my normal plumber the previous week. Anyway, the job was done to a satisfactory standard, and no complaints. Toss of the coin for 4 or 5 stars, but it came out 4 just for the cost - maybe I live in the past.....?

We had Zac@R&G Plumbing attend a consistently blocking toilet in our apartment. He demonstrated strong knowledge, explaining where he believed the issue lay & what he needed to do to diagnose. On confirming his diagnosis he provided a detailed report so we could provide to our strata manager as issue would require strata approval to fix. Zac was professional, honest & worked efficiently, cleaning up as if he had never been. We would have no hesitation recommending Zac for any plumbing requirement & will definitely use his services again in future. Cheers, Paula

Drain Repairs Sydney FAQs

How much do drain repairs cost in Sydney?

It depends on the type of damage, the repair method, the depth and length of the affected section, and site access. A cracked joint is a smaller job than a full collapsed section under a driveway. We inspect with CCTV and give you a fixed price before any work starts, and there is no call-out fee to get that quote.

Drain clearing removes a blockage, restoring flow through an otherwise sound pipe. Drain repair fixes structural damage in the pipe itself, such as cracks, root intrusion, displaced joints or collapsed sections. Clearing is the right job when the pipe is intact. Repairing is the right job when the pipe is damaged, and the blockage keeps coming back.

The symptoms can look identical from the surface. Recurring blockages, sewage backups and slow drainage can all point to either. A CCTV drain inspection is the only reliable way to tell the difference. If the camera shows a collapse, sagging or structural cracking, that is a repair. If the pipe wall is intact, clearing is usually enough.

Yes, and they are the most common cause of structural drain damage across Sydney, particularly in established suburbs with mature trees and older clay or earthenware pipes. Roots enter through the smallest crack or open joint, then grow inside the pipe until they block it, crack it further and eventually break it apart.

Pipe relining is a trenchless repair method. An epoxy liner is inserted into the damaged pipe, inflated and cured to form a new pipe inside the old one. It seals cracks, closes root entry points and restores structural integrity without any excavation. A quality reline is expected to last 50 years or more.

In most cases, yes. Pipe relining repairs the pipe from the inside with no excavation, which means your lawn, paving, driveway and garden beds stay intact. Full excavation is only needed when the pipe has collapsed completely and cannot support a liner.

It depends on your policy and the cause. Sudden pipe failures are often covered. Gradual deterioration, wear and tear, and long-term root intrusion are frequently excluded. We provide CCTV footage and a written report to support your claim if you choose to lodge one.

A straightforward reline on a single section can often be completed in a day. Excavation and replacement or a longer section of relining may take two or more days depending on depth, access and site conditions. We give you a clear timeframe before we start.

It can be. A cracked sewer pipe can leak raw sewage into the soil, creating a health and contamination risk. If sewage is backing up inside the house or you can smell it, treat it as urgent and call us on 0461 330 531. A crack in a stormwater line is less immediately dangerous but should still be repaired before the next heavy rain.

Because the clearing removed the symptom but not the cause. If the pipe is cracked, has roots growing through the wall, has a sag or a displaced joint, debris will catch in the same spot again and again. The only way to stop the cycle is to repair the structural damage in the pipe.

If the pipe is cracked or root-damaged but still structurally intact, relining is usually the better option: faster, cheaper and no excavation. If the pipe has fully collapsed or is made from a material that cannot be relined, replacement is the way to go. We show you what the camera found and recommend the most practical and cost-effective option, not the most expensive one.
