Killara PLUMBING SERVICES

Plumbing Services in Killara, NSW 2071

Whether you’re in a heritage home on the western side near the golf club or on a bush-backed block up in East Killara, the plumbing under these properties is rarely simple. Our experienced plumbers cover the lot - everyday repairs, blocked drain services, gas fitting, hot water systems, leak detection and full pipe relining - and we always begin by looking at what’s actually going on, so the quote we give is the price you pay. It’s reliable plumbing services, with honest pricing and no surprises.

A blocked drain in Killara almost always comes down to two things: a large tree somewhere nearby and a clay pipe that has been in the ground for the best part of a century. We camera the line to find the exact blockage, clear it under high pressure, and let you watch the footage so you know it’s genuinely gone - and won’t come back to cause water damage or bad smells.

Pipe relining repairs a broken or root-cracked pipe without opening up your garden, which counts for a lot on Killara’s established, heavily landscaped blocks. We line the existing pipe from the inside - sparing lawns, sandstone and heritage paving - and the finished pipe is stronger than the one it replaced. It’s a long-term solution that avoids the mess and cost of digging.

Most of the hot water work we do here is on systems trying to keep up with large homes and several bathrooms at once. We handle repairs, installations and replacements across gas, electric, solar and heat-pump hot water systems - and when a unit is past saving, we help you pick a replacement matched to your household rather than whatever happens to be on the truck. Most hot water system repairs and swaps are done the same day.

Gas has to be handled by a licensed fitter, no exceptions. We install and service cooktops, ovens, heaters and gas hot water, run new gas lines and issue compliance certificates. A gas smell is never something to ignore, so call us, and we’ll make the property safe before doing anything else.

The smaller jobs count too: the leaking tap that won’t stop dripping, the toilet that runs all night, the mixer well past its best. Our leak detection also chases down the leaks you can’t see - the hidden ones quietly lifting your water bills - using acoustic and thermal equipment to pinpoint them before a single tile is lifted.

Local KILLARA Plumbing Knowledge

A Local Plumber Who Knows Killara’s Homes and Drainage

Drive through Killara, and you notice three things: the tree canopy, the heritage houses and the sheer size of the blocks. Sitting in Ku-ring-gai about 13 km north of the city, the suburb runs from the golf club and the Pacific Highway in the west across to the bushland edges of East Killara, with much of it inside heritage conservation areas.

For a plumber, that history is the whole story. Pipes laid generations ago are still carrying the load, mature roots are everywhere underground, and large gardens and elevated blocks turn drainage and stormwater into their own puzzle. Our team arrives with the cameras, jetters and leak-detection gear to read the situation properly, then tells you plainly what needs doing and what it will cost - the same reliable service we bring to the surrounding Ku-ring-gai suburbs.

Killara Plumbing Problems

Common Plumbing Problems We Solve in Killara

A handful of plumbing issues come up over and over in Killara. The list below is what we’re called out for most - the early signs to watch for, and how we actually put each one right for good.

Tree-Root Intrusion in Clay Sewer Liness

Ask any Killara local about blocked drains and the conversation turns to trees. The same canopy that shades the streets sends fine roots hunting for moisture, and they find it in the hairline gaps of old clay joints. Left alone, a few strands become a solid plug that first slows the drain, then stops it.

How we fix it

Our camera shows exactly where the roots are getting in. We cut and flush them out under high pressure, and where the pipe itself has cracked, we line it so there is no longer a gap for them to exploit.

Failing Heritage Pipework

A Federation home is a joy to live in and hard on its plumbing. Galvanised supply pipes rust from the inside out, old copper develops pinholes, and original earthenware drains shift and crack. It shows up as weak pressure, rusty water or leaks that never quite explain themselves.

How we fix it

We trace the failing section with a camera or leak detection, then replace or reline just that run rather than tearing out sound pipework, and we make the surface good once the work is done.

Hot Water That Cannot Keep Up

Put four bathrooms, a kitchen and a laundry on one ageing system and something has to give. In Killara that tends to mean lukewarm showers, pressure that fades halfway through, or a unit that quits on the coldest morning of the year.

How we fix it

If the system has life left, we try a repair first. If it does not, we size a new one around how the household actually uses hot water, and we can usually have it running the same day.

Slow Kitchen, Bathroom and Laundry Drains

Indoor waste blocks gradually. Fat, soap and hair line the pipe a little more each week until the water barely moves, and by that point, a plunger only buys you a day or two.

How we fix it

We clear the line back to clean pipe, flush it through, and check further down to be sure we are not just treating the symptom of something bigger.

Stormwater and Yard Flooding

Killara’s big blocks catch a lot of water and a lot of leaves. When the pits and stormwater drains silt up, a heavy downpour has nowhere to go, and you end up with a flooded lawn, soggy beds or water creeping toward the house, something we hear about constantly from the lower and bush-backed blocks.

How we fix it

We clear and inspect the stormwater lines, check that everything falls the right way, and repair or re-lay the pipework wherever the water is escaping or backing up.

Hidden Leaks and Climbing Water Bills

Not every leak announces itself. One behind a wall or under the slab can run for months, rotting timber and lifting your bill while you wonder where the money is going. A faint hiss, a warm patch underfoot or a bill that jumps for no reason are the usual tip-offs.

How we fix it

Instead of guessing and cutting, we listen for and image the leak with acoustic and thermal gear, pin it to the spot, and open up only what we have to.

Excellent service from R&G Plumbing at my unit. Jeremy was very quick to contact me and arrange an inspection. Once here, Adam was professional, punctual, and quickly identified the issue with my kitchen taps. He clearly explained the problem, completed the repair efficiently, and provided all the documentation I needed afterwards.

I really appreciated the honest advice, attention to detail, and fair pricing. I highly recommend R&G Plumbing to anyone looking for reliable, fairly priced, and professional plumbing services.

Thank you again to the entire R&G Plumbing team!

Jack from R&G Plumbing Gas & Drainage Pty Ltd was outstanding from start to finish. His workmanship was excellent, and he was professional, friendly, and incredibly patient throughout the entire job. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was done properly and took the time to explain things clearly, which I really appreciated. The quality of his work speaks for itself, and the pricing was very fair — great value for money. I couldn’t be happier with the result and would highly recommend Jack to anyone needing a reliable and skilled plumber. Thank you Jack

We had a blocked drain in our backyard and R&G Plumbing reached out very quickly. Jeremy gave us a fair quote for jet blasting, so we went ahead. Zac came out and was fantastic. When the jet blasting didn’t work, he found the pipe was completely blocked by long roots and a hole in the pipe

Initially, it looked like the floor would need to be dug up for a 1.5 day job$$, which we couldn’t afford. Instead, Jack kept investigating and found another access point through our neighbour’s carpark ceiling. He organised access to neighbours garage, removed the roots, and repaired the pipe at a much more affordable price. The roots were way worse than we expected.

As a young couple and first home buyers, this was our first time dealing with a plumber and we were pretty stressed since we thought it was a simple blockage but it turned out to be a complex issue. I gotta check the drainage when im purchase property in the future. Learnt my lesson!

Jeremy and Zac explained everything clearly and provided a detailed report and invoice so we can raise it with strata, as the drainage is linked to other units and may have further issues.

Really grateful for the honesty and effort. We’ve definitely found a plumber we trust and would happily connect with Jeremy’s team again.

Very happy with the work and the service. Jack came to give me a quote on replacing 4 taps in the laundry and the Abs came to do the work 2 hours later. Everything fixed quickly on the same day. Both young men were very professional and pleasant. I would recommend them.

My sewer was blocked, and as my normal plumber was unavailable for a week I contacted R&G Plumbing. They promptly attended after my call, and temporarily fixed the problem, but indicated the pipe had to be replaced. After being a bit taken aback by the quote, I accepted due to the urgency of the matter. Abs and his apprentice River (2 days on the job) attended on time a couple of days later to complete the job. Both very pleasant to speak to. It was an all day job to dig the hole through heavy clay, replace the pipe, back fill, and replace a row of pavers. I think they did a pretty good job with the clean up as well. Overall, happy with the reliability and outcome, though I thought a tad expensive. I did ask a general question of replacing 2 washers, and was quoted 3 times more than I actually paid my normal plumber the previous week. Anyway, the job was done to a satisfactory standard, and no complaints. Toss of the coin for 4 or 5 stars, but it came out 4 just for the cost - maybe I live in the past.....?

We had Zac@R&G Plumbing attend a consistently blocking toilet in our apartment. He demonstrated strong knowledge, explaining where he believed the issue lay & what he needed to do to diagnose. On confirming his diagnosis he provided a detailed report so we could provide to our strata manager as issue would require strata approval to fix. Zac was professional, honest & worked efficiently, cleaning up as if he had never been. We would have no hesitation recommending Zac for any plumbing requirement & will definitely use his services again in future. Cheers, Paula
