PLUMBER IN ASHFIELD, NSW 2131

Plumber Ashfield - Same-Day Plumbing for Units, Houses & Emergencies

Ashfield is an apartment suburb first and a house suburb second. In the 2021 Census, close to seven in ten occupied dwellings here were flats or apartments, and about half of all households were renting. That changes how a plumbing job actually starts: the person who sees the leak is often not the person who approves the repair, and the pipe causing it is not always inside the unit where the water is showing up.

We work out which part of the system has failed before anything is opened up or replaced. We clear blocked drains, repair hot water systems, find hidden leaks, reline damaged drains, carry out licensed gas work and attend urgent plumbing problems 24/7, with a $0 call-out fee and a fixed price approved before work starts.

PLUMBING SERVICES ASHFIELD

Plumbing Services in Ashfield, NSW 2131

A blocked drain in Ashfield can sit in one fixture, in a private line serving a single house, or in a shared line serving a whole block of units. The pattern tells us which. We trace it, use CCTV where the cause is not obvious, and clear the obstruction with high-pressure jetting before any structural repair is recommended.

Where CCTV shows a cracked, misaligned or root-damaged underground drain, relining can rebuild the failed section from inside the existing pipe. On a tight Inner West block — shared driveways, paved courtyards, small rear yards — avoiding a long trench is often the difference between a one-day job and a disruptive one.

No hot water, fluctuating temperature, a leaking tank or a system that keeps tripping should be tested before replacement is considered. We work on electric, gas, solar, heat-pump and continuous-flow systems, and match any replacement to what the property actually needs, including units where the tank sits in a cupboard, on a balcony or in a shared plant area.

Licensed gas fitting for cooktops, heaters, hot water units and gas pipework, including testing and compliant repair where a leak or an appliance fault is suspected. If you can smell gas, turn the supply off at the meter, leave the building and call us on 0461 330 531.

Burst Water Main Repairs Sydney HOme

Burst pipes, sewer overflows, water coming through a ceiling and urgent gas concerns are prioritised day or night. We make the immediate problem safe, identify the affected system and confirm the repair price before proceeding.

HOW ASHFIELD PLUMBING JOBS ACTUALLY START

Who Reports It, Who Approves It, Who Can Get You In

In a suburb where about half of all households rent and most dwellings are flats, the plumbing problem and the plumbing decision usually sit with different people. The tenant sees it. The owner or the managing agent authorises the spend. If the fault turns out to be in a common line, the strata scheme is involved as well. Sorting that out on the first call is what stops a straightforward repair turning into a week of messages, so we ask about it up front rather than at the end.

1. A tenant reports the problem

You do not need to know who owns the pipe to call us. We attend, make the situation safe, and identify what has failed and where. We can confirm what we found in writing so it can be passed to the owner or the managing agent without you having to re-explain it.

2. An owner or agent authorises the work

You get a fixed price before anything is approved, tied to what the inspection actually showed — no call-out fee and no open-ended hourly work. Where the cause is a worn component rather than a failed pipe, we say so. A repair that should be cheap should stay cheap.

3. The fault is in a common line

If the same symptom shows up in more than one unit, on more than one floor, or in a car park or common area, a shared branch, stack or service becomes the more likely cause. We trace the plumbing route and document where the fault was found. Who is responsible for it depends on the strata plan and the building’s arrangements, not on the plumbing diagnosis alone.

4. You own and live in the property

Ashfield still has free-standing and semi-detached homes, many of them older, with drainage and supply pipework that has been added to over the years. Here the whole system is yours, so the priority is establishing whether you are looking at a one-off repair or a section of pipe that is going to keep failing.

DIAGNOSIS BEFORE DISRUPTION

Find the Affected System Before You Pay for the Repair

A repair should follow the evidence. Whether it is a dripping mixer, low pressure across a whole unit, a drain that keeps blocking or water appearing in the apartment below, we work from the symptom back to the system that is actually failing. That keeps the quote tied to the cause rather than to the most obvious place the water happens to appear, and it is the difference between fixing the problem once and paying twice for the same symptom.

WALK-UPS, NEW BUILDS AND OLDER HOMES

The Building Decides How the Repair Gets Done

Ashfield’s flats are not all the same age or the same construction. Older low-rise blocks around the town centre and the station tend to have shared drainage, hot water and supply arrangements that were designed decades ago and modified since. Newer apartment buildings are more likely to have individual metering, in-unit systems and defined service risers. The repair method has to follow the building, not a template.

Find the right isolation point

Shutting off more of a building than necessary creates avoidable disruption for people who have nothing to do with the fault. Before opening up or replacing a component, we establish which valve, branch or service actually controls the affected area.

Confirm whether the problem is local or shared

One unit with a problem points us in one direction. The same symptom in several units changes the investigation entirely. Reading that pattern early avoids spending an afternoon inside the wrong apartment while the fault sits in a common line.

Plan access before opening finished surfaces

In unit work the access point is usually a cupboard, a riser, a ceiling or a plant area rather than an open yard, and it often has to be arranged with a tenant, a building manager or a strata manager. We narrow the fault down first so access is targeted and the repair does not create damage it did not need to.

WHEN AN ASHFIELD DRAIN BLOCKS AGAIN

A One-Off Blockage or a Damaged Drain?

A drain that clears once and stays clear is a different job from one that slows down again a few weeks later. In older Inner West properties the second pattern is common, and it is the point at which clearing alone stops giving you enough information to make a decision.

First, restore the flow

High-pressure jetting removes the obstruction so the line can be inspected properly, and shows whether normal flow returns once the blockage is gone.

Then, inspect what caused it

CCTV can show roots, cracks, displaced joints or sections where waste repeatedly catches. If the pipe itself is sound, no structural repair is needed and we will tell you that.

Repair only when the pipe needs it

Where the line is damaged and suitable for relining, the failed section can often be rebuilt from inside the existing pipe. If relining is not appropriate, we explain the repair option that is.

Excellent service from R&G Plumbing at my unit. Jeremy was very quick to contact me and arrange an inspection. Once here, Adam was professional, punctual, and quickly identified the issue with my kitchen taps. He clearly explained the problem, completed the repair efficiently, and provided all the documentation I needed afterwards.

I really appreciated the honest advice, attention to detail, and fair pricing. I highly recommend R&G Plumbing to anyone looking for reliable, fairly priced, and professional plumbing services.

Jack from R&G Plumbing Gas & Drainage Pty Ltd was outstanding from start to finish. His workmanship was excellent, and he was professional, friendly, and incredibly patient throughout the entire job. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was done properly and took the time to explain things clearly, which I really appreciated. The quality of his work speaks for itself, and the pricing was very fair — great value for money. I couldn’t be happier with the result and would highly recommend Jack to anyone needing a reliable and skilled plumber. Thank you Jack

We had a blocked drain in our backyard and R&G Plumbing reached out very quickly. Jeremy gave us a fair quote for jet blasting, so we went ahead. Zac came out and was fantastic. When the jet blasting didn’t work, he found the pipe was completely blocked by long roots and a hole in the pipe

Initially, it looked like the floor would need to be dug up for a 1.5 day job$$, which we couldn’t afford. Instead, Jack kept investigating and found another access point through our neighbour’s carpark ceiling. He organised access to neighbours garage, removed the roots, and repaired the pipe at a much more affordable price. The roots were way worse than we expected.

As a young couple and first home buyers, this was our first time dealing with a plumber and we were pretty stressed since we thought it was a simple blockage but it turned out to be a complex issue. I gotta check the drainage when im purchase property in the future. Learnt my lesson!

Jeremy and Zac explained everything clearly and provided a detailed report and invoice so we can raise it with strata, as the drainage is linked to other units and may have further issues.

Really grateful for the honesty and effort. We’ve definitely found a plumber we trust and would happily connect with Jeremy’s team again.

Very happy with the work and the service. Jack came to give me a quote on replacing 4 taps in the laundry and the Abs came to do the work 2 hours later. Everything fixed quickly on the same day. Both young men were very professional and pleasant. I would recommend them.

My sewer was blocked, and as my normal plumber was unavailable for a week I contacted R&G Plumbing. They promptly attended after my call, and temporarily fixed the problem, but indicated the pipe had to be replaced. After being a bit taken aback by the quote, I accepted due to the urgency of the matter. Abs and his apprentice River (2 days on the job) attended on time a couple of days later to complete the job. Both very pleasant to speak to. It was an all day job to dig the hole through heavy clay, replace the pipe, back fill, and replace a row of pavers. I think they did a pretty good job with the clean up as well. Overall, happy with the reliability and outcome, though I thought a tad expensive. I did ask a general question of replacing 2 washers, and was quoted 3 times more than I actually paid my normal plumber the previous week. Anyway, the job was done to a satisfactory standard, and no complaints. Toss of the coin for 4 or 5 stars, but it came out 4 just for the cost - maybe I live in the past.....?

We had Zac@R&G Plumbing attend a consistently blocking toilet in our apartment. He demonstrated strong knowledge, explaining where he believed the issue lay & what he needed to do to diagnose. On confirming his diagnosis he provided a detailed report so we could provide to our strata manager as issue would require strata approval to fix. Zac was professional, honest & worked efficiently, cleaning up as if he had never been. We would have no hesitation recommending Zac for any plumbing requirement & will definitely use his services again in future. Cheers, Paula

Do you charge a call-out fee in Ashfield?

No. R&G Plumbing has a $0 call-out fee in Ashfield. We inspect the problem, explain what is required and price the approved work before starting.

Yes. You do not need to know who owns the pipe to get the problem looked at. We attend, make the situation safe and identify what has failed and where, and we can confirm what we found in writing so it can go to the owner or managing agent. Who pays for the repair is a matter between the tenant, the owner and the agent under the tenancy arrangements.

The pattern is the first clue. If one fixture or one apartment is affected, we start locally. If the same symptom appears across several units or floors, we trace the shared plumbing route. We can document where the fault is found; responsibility for it depends on the strata plan and the building’s arrangements.

Treat it as urgent. Move what you can out of the way, avoid using electrical fittings near the water, and call 0461 330 531. Water travelling between units can come from a failed flexible hose, a shower or balcony waterproofing failure, or a supply or waste line inside the structure. The source has to be found rather than guessed at, because each of those is a different repair.

A repeat blockage usually means the pipe itself has a crack, a displaced joint or a root entry point that keeps catching waste. In older Inner West properties this is common. CCTV inspection shows whether the line needs another clear or a structural repair.

Often, yes. If the pipe is suitable, relining can rebuild the damaged section from inside the existing line without a long trench, which matters on Inner West blocks where the drain runs under paving, a shared driveway or a small courtyard. CCTV inspection is used to confirm whether relining is appropriate.

Yes. Burst pipes, sewer overflows, major leaks and urgent gas concerns can be attended 24/7. We deal with the immediate risk first and explain the repair price before approved work begins.
